  • Restocking Fee: No
  • Modified Item: No
  • Country/Region of Manufacture: United States
  • Condition: It would be difficult to find one in nicer condition. Original decals still bright & fresh, unchipped; original green paint is near perfect (lightly worn on rim above handle); spring works fine; speed governor & off/on switch work well; the reproducer is VERY SLIGHTLY loose but holding on well & plays the accompanying 5 1/2 inch record nicely. (This phono won't work for larger 10" records). The original horn is fine & virtually un-blemished. I don't have a strobe to measure speed but the Little Wonder record of the song INDIANA plays very well & sounds right - all the way through. Reproducer likely needs a new steel needle (they're very cheap) but the needle currently inserted does its job okay. There is a 1/3 inch "ding" in the original turntable felt but it's not terribly obtrusive; felt is VG otherwise. I began my business in 1961 selling antique phonos & 78rpm records so I've got some experience with these things. Handle SLIGHTLY rusted. Overall, near fine original condition.

Here's an original ca. mid-1920s vintage, acoustic Genola Kid's Phonograph with outside horn; made in Elyria Ohio by the General Phonograph Manufacturing Company. This machine was made to play kid's older 78rpm shellac records with a diameter of 5 to 6 inches. It works beautifully with the single accompanying 5
    1/2
inch diameter Little Wonder Record of the song "Indiana." The turntable will not work with larger 10" "adult" 78s (they're too heavy). The old 1920s shellac "Little Wonder" records can be bought fairly cheaply off of ebay (I think I paid - for this one maybe a month ago).
The phonograph with its handle/crank and with its horn measures 8 inches tall, about 12 inches long and about 8
    3/4
    inches wide.
The phonograph has all of its original parts, as far as I can tell. And it has nice original green paint. The original manufacturer decal and 3 nursery rhyme decals are bright and near perfect.
I think it would be difficult to find a better example, condition-wise.
