1930's Esso Tugboat Flag Petroliana Exxon maritime

Availability: 100 in stock
  • Condition: The flag is not in perfect condition. It flew from the tugboat exposed to the elements for many years. I have shown pictures of some of the damage, but you should assume there is more. It has holes, it has stains, it has character. Ebay doesn’t allow enough pictures to show everything. That said, this is a unique item. I don’t imagine many of these survived. The flag is sold as is.

    Description

Up for auction is a 1930s vintage Esso Tugboat flag. This flag belonged to my Great Grandfather. He was a tugboat captain for Esso gas. His tugboat sailed out of Perth Amboy, New Jersey. The flag is not in perfect condition. As you can see from the third picture, the flag dimensions are 6' x 9' feet. This is likely not an exact measure any more, so assume it may be slightly different due to expansion or shrinkage. The space I photographed it in is a little less than 10' wide.

To all my customers and potential new customers: Given our current situation, I have started limiting my shipping to once a week to keep stress on the Post Office and contact at a minimum. I have been sheltering in place since March 14 and as of April 6 only left the house for grocery shopping once. I live alone, so I have nearly no contact with others. I practice social distancing, good hand washing and sanitizing. All of my listings and boxes have been touched minimally or not at all. I may be your safest place from which to order things. Please stay safe! I look forward to serving you.
