The map opens to 24½" x 33½" and has great detail on old highway alignments and route numbers, with cartography by the General Drafting Company.
The coverage area includes Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, New York, and adjacent Canada.
The map was published by the Esso Standard Oil Company in 1952 and is dated in the legend.
The artwork on the front cover shows one of the covered wagon trains which blazed the trails that later became some of America's most important highways.
